A traffic violation led to the arrest of a local man on requested drug charges and a requested firearms charge just before midnight Wednesday in north Salina.
Salina Police Captain Paul Forrester said Thursday that a K-9 officer, on patrol in the 1100 block of North 11th Street, saw a Ford Ranger pickup operating without its headlights on.
After making contact with the man, the officer identified him as Jason Wooderson, 43, Salina. The officer had his K-9 conduct a free air sniff around the vehicle, which positively alerted to the presence of illegal narcotics, Forrester said.
The officer searched Wooderson and found that he was in possession of a Walther px380 semi-automatic, handgun, methamphetamines, pills and THC wax, police said. Wooderson is a convicted felon and can't have a firearm.
Wooderson was arrested on the following requested charges, Forrester said.
● Criminal possession of a firearm by a convicted felon
● Possession of meth
● No drug tax stamp
● Defective headlamps
