On Wednesday evening a 40-year-old man was allegedly stabbed by an unknown suspect in central Salina.
Salina Police Sergeant Kyle Tonniges said this morning at approximately 9 p.m. Wednesday, officers were sent to the Immanuel Lutheran Church, located at the intersection of 7th and Mulberry Street to a report of a man who had been stabbed. When officers arrived, they identified the victim as Jeffery Andrew.
“He had a serious stab wound to his abdomen, but it was not life-threatening. He was transported to the hospital,” Tonniges said.
Tonniges said Andrew had been sleeping near a bush located next to the church when the stabbing occurred.
“He [Andrew] gave us a description of the subject and our detectives are investigating it and following up with him,” Tonniges said.
Tonniges added that Andrew does not have a residential address in Salina and the victim said there was no altercation prior to the stabbing.
