A goal just 40 seconds into the match set the tone as the Kansas Wesleyan Coyotes put forth a dominating performance for a 6-1 win over the Avila Eagles on Saturday at JRI Hospitality Stadium at Graves Family Sports Complex.

Gerardo Garcia scored the first goal off a pass from Cayden Andersen as Garcia got possession in front of the goal and shot it in from point blank range.

The Coyotes got another in the eighth minute, from Kamille Kum, again assisted by Andersen.

Avila got a goal in the 19th minute to get on the board, but the Coyotes were quick to respond. Noel ZImbeva scored it for the Coyotes in the 20th minute off an assist by Garcia making it 3-1 Coyotes.

KWU led 3-1 at the half.

KWU netted two goals less than 90 seconds apart in the second half, the first by Pierre Gueguen assisted by Jakob Treitl and the second by Kum, his second of the match, assisted by Gueguen.

Kum nearly made it a hat trick in the 58th minute, sending a hard hit shot into the goal area from the left side, but hit the far post and it bounced out.

Wesleyan's final goal came in the 70th minute by Mike Wernicke assisted by Kum. After a long throw-in from deep in the corner, Kum went for an initial shot that was blocked and bounced right to Wernicke for the score.

KWU dominated the match with a 22-7 advantage in shots. Kum led the way with six shots. Seth Flores and Gueguen had three each. The Coyotes also had 17 corner kicks in the match, 10 in the second half.
