Sheds, chickens destroyed in fire at Falun Thursday

FALUN -- Two sheds and their contents, including about 20 chickens, were destroyed in a fire Thursday afternoon in Falun.

First responders were dispatched at 2:05 p.m. for the report of a shed fire, however, once they arrived, they discovered two sheds ablaze, Saline County Sheriff Roger Soldan said this morning. The sheds and the residence belong to Bryce Wampler, Lindsborg, whose son, Ethan, lives at the residence, Soldan said. Both men had multiple items in the sheds, he added.

The first shed was a loss of $2,000; the loss of items in the shed was estimated at $1,000, Soldan said.

The second shed was was a loss of $5,000, with a loss of items estimated at $12,000, he said.

Additionally, approximately 20 chickens died in the blaze, Soldan said.

The cause of the fire has not yet been determined, he added.

Firefighters from Saline County Rural Fire District No. 2, Lindsborg, and Marquette responded to the fire, Soldan said.
