CONCORDIA - For the first time in his career, Cloud County Community College sophomore cross country runner Awet Beraki has been named Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference men's runner of the week for his performance at the 2021 Greeno/Dirksen Invitational in Lincoln, Neb.

Running a lifetime personal-best of 24:14.12 on the 8K course, Beraki would finish in fourth-place overall amongst a field of 215 runners. The top-four runners in the field would all be NJCAA athletes as the meet featured nine NCAA, eight NAIA, and eight NJCAA schools competing. Of the eight NJCAA schools represented, three of the top-five in the most recent United States Track and Field Cross Country Coaches Association Top-25 poll took part in the meet.

The award marks the second Athlete of the Week Award for Beraki dating back to last year when he was named NJCAA Division I Cross Country Runner of the Week on Nov. 4, 2020.
