The Southeast of Saline Trojan softball team picked up two more convincing wins against the Minneapolis Lions on Tuesday to continue their dominant run in 2021.
SES won both games of the doubleheader by mercy rule, with victories of 14-2 and 19-0 to advance to 10-4 on the season.
The Trojans jumped out to an early lead in game one, scoring seven of their 14 runs in the first three innings. SES capped it off with two in the fourth and five in the fifth, and got a big boost at the plate courtesy of a three-RBI game from sophomore Chase Gilpin.
Carly Commerford looked unhittable in the circle for Southeast, allowing just two runs on three hits and striking out seven in five innings.
The Trojans also capitalized on a disastrous game in the field for the Lions, who committed 11 errors in game one alone.
Game two of the double header picked up right where game one left off, as SES struck for 12 runs before Minneapolis sent a single batter to the plate.
Things did not improve for the Lions defensively, as the team committed eight more errors in what would eventually be a 19-0 three-inning win for the Trojans.
While the offense put up big numbers in game two, the pitching was just as good, as Lexi Jacobson struck out four and didn’t allow a single hit all afternoon.
The Lady Trojans will be back in action on Friday when the team travels to Chapman for a doubleheader with the fighting Irish.
