Stanley John “Stan” Mayers, 65, Hays, died Saturday, July 27, 2024 at HaysMed.

He was born May 19, 1959 in Osborne, the son of Raymond and Laurine (Krier) Mayers. In 1977, he graduated from Osborne High School then attended Fort Hays State University, earning a Bachelors Degree in Accounting. He was the Chief Financial Officer at Golden Belt Bank, recently retiring after more than 22 years. On June 7, 1986, he was united in marriage to Pamela “Pam” Hamel in Zurich, and they celebrated 38 years of marriage. Stan was a member of St. Nicholas of Myra Catholic Church, St. Nicholas of Myra Third Degree Knights of Columbus Council #10044, the Fourth Degree Bishop Cunningham Assembly #282, and Marked Men for Christ. He was an outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a loyal Kansas City Chiefs, Kansas City Royals, and K-State fan. He was devoted to his family and loved his grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife Pam of Hays, his three children, Jenna Meyer and husband Marc of Nolensville, TN, Jason Mayers and wife Sara of Wichita, and Jared Mayers and fiancé Halle Lohmeyer of Hays, two grandchildren, Molly Meyer and Aiden Mayers, five sisters, Cynthia Kendig and husband Larry, Darlene Hadley and husband Craig, Shirley Thompson and husband Kent, Lisa Spears and husband Doyle all of Osborne, and Deanna Smith and husband Rick of Hays, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant brother, Joseph Mayers.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 am on Wednesday July 31, 2024 at St. Nicholas of Myra Catholic Church. Visitation will be from 5:00 pm until 8:00 on Tuesday and from 9:00 am until service time on Wednesday, all at the church. The Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus will stand honor guard from 5:30 until 6:30, a vigil service will be at 6:30 followed by a combined Third and Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus rosary, all on Tuesday at the church. Memorials are suggested to TMP Endowment or to St. Nicholas of Myra Church.
