Two people from Salina were arrested after a pickup allegedly going more than 100 mph on Country Club Road failed to negotiate a turn and struck a power pole early Sunday morning.
A deputy patrolling in the eastern part of the county allegedly clocked a white 2015 Ford F150 going 107 mph on Country Club Road just after midnight on Sunday, Saline County Sheriff Roger Soldan said this morning. The deputy attempted to stop the pickup, but as the pickup attempted to turn onto N. Woodward Road, it missed the turn and struck a power pole.
Once the deputy caught up to the pickup, a passenger in the pickup, identified as Jayden Miller, 20, of Salina, claimed he had a gun, Soldan said. As the deputy was taking Miller into custody, the driver of the pickup, identified as Kaleb Kugler, 21, of Salina, allegedly ran into a nearby wooded area. Eventually, the deputy was able to take Kugler into custody as well, Soldan said.
Miller was arrested on the following requested charges, Soldan said.
●Alcohol consumption by a minor
●Concealed possession of a firearm while under the influence
Kugler was arrested on the following requested charges, Soldan said.
●Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs
