🎥Salina City Commission to address city manager transition, park projects, development updates

The Salina City Commission will hold its regular meeting on Jan. 27, 2025. It will begin at 4:00 p.m. in Room 107 of the City-County Building, 300 West Ash Street.

Study Session

The Salina City Commission will hold a study session on media relations on Jan. 27 at 3:00 p.m.

Call to order

The meeting will begin with confirmation that the required notice under the Kansas Open Meeting Act has been provided, followed by a roll call.

Consent Agenda

(4.1) (4.2) The commission will consider approving the minutes from the January 13, 2025, meeting and the January 15, 2025, special meeting.

(4.3) Resolution No. 25-8275 will appoint members to the Law Enforcement Citizen Review Board and Tree Advisory Board.

(4.4) Project No. 25002 (2025 Crack Sealing) to Circle C Construction of Goddard, Kansas, for $510,247.33.

(4.5) Resolution No. 25-8273 will approve the Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) Title VI Plan.

(4.6) Authorization to publish a Request for Proposals for the purchase of City-owned property formerly known as Gleniffer Hill Park will be considered.

(4.7) Resolution No. 25-8274 will authorize construction improvements at the City’s Solid Waste Facility and the issuance of Temporary Notes and/or General Obligation Bonds.

Administration

(5.1) No. 25-8276, expressing gratitude to City Manager Mike Schrage for his service from December 12, 2005, to February 7, 2025.

(5.2) The Mayor’s appointment of City Commissioners to various boards, commissions, and committees will be announced.

(5.3)Discussion will take place on the next steps in the City Manager selection process.

(5.4) Authorization to purchase vehicles and equipment from the 2025 sub-CIP will be considered.

(5.5)Discussion will continue on proposed improvements at Jerry Ivey Memorial Park, with consideration of awarding the revised bid to Smoky Hill Construction, LLC, for $1,581,762.

(5.6) Resolution No. 25-8278 will establish fees for Bill Burke Park, Pestinger Family Stadium, and Dean Evans Stadium.

(5.7) Authorization for the Mayor to sign an amendment and complete restatement of the Salina Community Economic Development Organization Agreement will be discussed.

(5.8) Consider an agreement with the Salina Area Chamber of Commerce regarding the use of Transient Guest Tax proceeds to promote conventions and tourism.

Development Business

(6.1) Ordinance No. 25-11213 will consider the rezoning of property at 655 S. Santa Fe Avenue from R-3 to PC-1.

(6.2) Resolution No. 25-8277 will express support for the nomination of Dunbar School to the Register of Historic Kansas Places and the National Register of Historic Places.

(6.3) The commission will also consider acceptance of dedicated easements for the proposed Replat of Nine South Addition and authorize the Mayor to sign the plat.
