Saturday night storm knocks out power to Salina neighborhoods

Storms blew through the area Saturday night, bringing with them much needed rain and not so much needed wind.

Shortly before 9 p.m., a wind gust of 64 mph was recorded at the Salina Regional Airport. The sustained winds were 38 mph at the airport.

The storm that came through Salina temporarily knocked out power to several Salina neighborhoods.

As of 10:15 a.m. Sunday, 180 Evergy customers in south Salina were still without power. The area affected is on either side of E. Magnolia Road between S. Ohio Street and Belmont Boulevard. Power went out in that neighborhood shortly before 9 p.m. and is expected to be restored by noon today, according to Evergy's outage map webpage.

Additionally, a few customers in the airport industrial area and in central Salina near the intersection of S. Ninth Street and W. Crawford Street were still without power according to the Evergy outage map.
