Obituary for Kenton Thomas Grubbs | Ryan Mortuary

December 19, 1946 ~ March 13, 2022 (age 75)

Kenton Thomas Grubbs, 75, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 13, 2022 at Presbyterian Manor in Salina, Kan. He was born December 19, 1946 in Newton, Kan. He was the son of Thomas Edwin Grubbs and Edith Mabelle Woods Grubbs.

He graduated from Kingsley High School in 1964 and Emporia State University in 1968.

He married Virginia Armentrout June 1, 1970. She preceded him in death on July 22, 2015. He married Karen Hoeffner August 11, 2017.

He is survived by his loving wife Karen Hoeffner Grubbs Salina; children Kendra Maikori (Ishaku) and Kenton T. Grubbs, Jr., both of Wichita, Kan.; stepchildren Kayla Moss (Roger), Chris Johnson and Kirk Hoeffner; grandchildren Isaiah, Isaac, Immanuel, Ilias and Imani Maikori; step-grandchildren Tanner and Jake Moss; brothers James C. Grubbs (Susan) and Donald “Laird” Grubbs; niece Ashley Ureno (Clayton); nephew David Grubbs; and great-nephews Deakin and Blake Urenos.

Kenton grew up in Walton, Kan. He loved being a salesman for Designer Dispatch and Reliant Ribbon in his early years and later as owner operator of Relative Script Lettering.

He was such a friendly, fun loving guy who could always make you laugh and smile. He never met a stranger and made everyone around him feel comfortable and welcome. He will be greatly missed by his loving family, many friends and customers.

Visitation will be March 18, 2022 beginning at 10 a.m. followed by the funeral service at 11 a.m. at Chapel Hill United Methodist Church, 1550 N. Chapel Hill Dr., Wichita, KS, 67206. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, 1100 W 1st, Newton, KS, 67114.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to Chapel Hill United Methodist Church or to Salina Salvation Army, in care of Ryan Mortuary, Salina.
