College of Saint Mary made its 15th minute goal stand in a 1-0 win over the Kansas Wesleyan Women's Soccer team on Saturday evening at JRI Stadium at the Graves Family Sports Complex.

The goal for the Flames came in the 15th minute after an initial shot by Abbey Wilson deflected off a Coyote defender straight up into the air and 27 chipped it over the keeper's head who came off her line to play the ball, and scored.

It the first offensive push for College of Saint Mary in the game that started with the Coyotes on the offensive. A pair of shots by Kayla Deaver (SR/Lee's Summit, Mo.) for the Coyotes got things started, but the Coyotes couldn't find the net.

Wesleyan's best scoring chance in the first half came in the 38th minute when an initial shot by Crystal Marquez (SR/Lynwood, Calif.) was blocked, and Yarellie Galindo (SR/Lynwood, Calif.)'s follow was wide right.

The Coyotes had another great chance in the 58th minute when Deaver had an initial shot blocked by a defender and her follow shot would hit off the crossbar.

Wesleyan outshot College of Saint Mary 13-9, led by six shots from Deaver. Allison Blumenthal (JR/Temecula, Calif.) had five saves for the Coyotes.

KWU is back in action next Friday, opening KCAC play on the road at Ottawa. The Sept. 20 resumed match against Oklahoma City has officially been canceled due to travel issues for OCU.
