Julia Patricia “Pat” Schwensen, 90 years, died November 19, 2021 in Manhattan, KS. She was born on November 29, 1930 in Manhattan, the daughter of C.W.S. and Margaret (Bloomberg) Johnson.

Pat grew up in Corpus Christi, TX and was graduate of Corpus Christ High School Class of 1948. She earned a bachelor’s degree from Kansas State University.

Pat married Mert Harvey Schwensen, Jr. on December 28, 1951. They made their home in Clay Center where she was active in the St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, NEA Study Club, PEO, Library Club and Pi Beta Phi where she served as a national officer, president of the Housing Committee.

Mert preceded her in death on December 18, 1990. She was also preceded in death by an infant son, Richard on June 10, 1959; her parents; sister Beverly Murray; and father- and mother-in-law, Mert, Sr. and Gladys Schwensen.

Grandchildren: Pesha Ptacek, Christianna Peterson, Jake Self, Logan Self

Funeral Services: 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 29, 2021 at the St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Clay Center, KS

Burial: Greenwood Cemetery, Clay Center, Kansas

Visitation: 2-5 p.m. Sunday, November 28, 2021 at Neill-Schwensen-Rook Funeral Home
