Mark was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church. He was a graduate of Salina South High School in 1976 and afterward attended three years at Kansas Wesleyan University. Mark was also a published writer in several pest control publications over the years.
He was devout in his faith and was proud to be a long-time member of Christ the King Lutheran Church. In the church he served on many committees and on the Board of Directors.
On December 6, 1986, he was lucky enough to be married to Mary Werling. From this union two girls were born – Amanda and Ashley. Mark was very proud of both of them. He had many great memories of them both growing up and as adults.
