HERINGTON
Bernadine’s life began on October 28, 1932, in rural Delavan.  She is the daughter of Harold M. and Mary Alma ( Putnam) Siegrist. 

Bernadine was a 1951 graduate of Wilsey High School and had the distinction of being the only girl that played basketball on the boy’s team. 

She was united in marriage to Leonard Richard Louis Albrecht on December 16, 1951, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Herington. 

Bernadine loved sports of all kinds but especially baseball and basketball.  She was a caregiver to her family and loved making people happy.  Bernadine was a great cook and a wonderful homemaker. 

She is survived by her daughter Donna Staatz of Herington; son-in-law Kevin Gentz of Herington, daughter-in-law Jolene Albrecht of Salina, brother Marlin “Pete” Siegrist of Herington; grandchildren William (Jennifer) James, Dustin (Alexis) Gentz, Katey Staatz, Aaron Staatz, Kallie Albrecht, Morgan Albrecht, and Landon Albrecht; seven great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. 

Bernadine passed away on Thursday February 9, 2023, at Herington Hospital. 

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughters Linda James and Lois Gentz; son Neil Albrecht and brothers Vernon, Lawrence and Alvin Siegrist. 

Her family will gather with friends on Monday, February 20, 2023, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Herington from 1-2 for visitation and her funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. the same day.  She will be laid to rest in St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery following the service. 

Yazel Megli Funeral Home, Herington is serving the family.
