Jack Loy

Jack Loy, 82 of Chapman passed away May 21, 2024. He was born July 14, 1941, in Woodbine, Kansas to Ralph and Leona (Knox) Oesterreich. Ralph passed away in 1948. Leona later married Vernie Loy, who adopted Jack. Jack graduated from Chapman High School in 1959, and Brown Mackie College in 1961, where he studied Accounting. He went on to work at Ft. Riley as a Stock Fund Manager. On May 17, 1964, he was united in marriage to Judith (Judy) Stanley in Bennington, Kansas. Jack and Judy settled in Chapman where he and Judy made a home and raised their sons, Paul, Brian and Douglas. Jack retired in 2001 and was awarded the Commander’s Award for Civilian Service by the Department of the Army. Jack is survived by his three sons: Paul Loy of Salina; Brian Loy and wife Christy of Upland, Kansas and Douglas Loy and wife Melinda of Louisburg, Kansas. Seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Jack was preceded in death by his wife Judy, his guiding light in life. Family will receive friends Friday evening from 5-8 P.M. at the Grace Baptist Church. Funeral Services will be 10:00 A.M., Saturday, May 25, 2024, at Grace Baptist Church, Chapman, Kansas with Pastor Bryan Reeves officiating. Burial will follow at the Detroit Cemetery in Detroit, Kansas. The family asks that memorials be given to the Grace Baptist Church in care of Londeen-Overlease Funeral Chapel, PO Box 411, Chapman, Kansas 67431.
