Betty Boaz, 91, passed away Saturday, July 25, 2020.
She was born November 29, 1928 in Selma, California to her parents Matsuzo and Tsuya Kuwano.
She lived in Santa Maria, California for 13 years until 1942, when the family was relocated to a Japanese internment camp in Gila, Arizona.
On Christmas Day, 1945, the family went from camp to Japan. She worked at the Sasebo Naval Base as a secretary, where she met her future husband, Kenneth Boaz. They were married 72 years and had nine children: Curtis Boaz, Elizabeth Polly, Cathy Boaz (Aloha), Genie Boaz, Karl Boaz (Becky), Rose Davied (Joe), Mitch Boaz (Jewel), Marla Boaz (Jeff), and Denise Boaz. There are 13 grandchildren, and 8 great grandchildren. Many more called her “Mom”.
She is preceded in death by her husband Kenneth; her parents, 3 sisters; and her son Curtis. She is survived by her brother Hisao, 3 nieces and a nephew, all of California.
She was a beautiful lady with style and grace. Her smile could light up a room. She took great pride in her family, her work ethic, and her lovely garden. She had many lifelong friends. We were all lucky to have her in our lives; she will be sorely missed. We love you and we thank you Mom.
The family would like to thank the staff and friends at Brookdale Kirwin for their friendship, care, and kindness. We would also like to thank Kindred Hospice for their excellent help. We are grateful.
Because of Covid-19, there will be no service at this time.
