The York Panthers scored an early goal and made it stand as the Panthers defeated the Kansas Wesleyan Coyotes 1-0 on Wednesday night at Graves Family Sports Complex.
York scored the only goal of the match in the fifth minute as Archford Manduvi netted the shot playing a rebound off a save from an initial shot by Tamas Sebestyen.
Wesleyan had a few good looks at a goal but could not find the back of the net. Jesus Genaro Macias (JR/Garden City, Kan.) had a good shot in the 30th minute but it was saved and Luis Simbron (SR/Miami, Fla.) also narrowly missed in the 32nd minute.
York outshot the Coyotes 14-6 in the match, including a 10-2 advantage in the second half. Brandon Oaks (FR/Salina, Kan.) led the Coyotes with two shots. Oswaldo Diaz-Lopez (FR/Bryan, Texas) had six saves for the Coyotes.
KWU will try again on Saturday heading to Leavenworth to take on Saint Mary at 8 p.m. at Berkel Stadium.
