Be a part of history Thursday evening as the Stiefel Theatre tower once again is a shining beacon in downtown Salina.

After brief remarks and recognition, the newly restored tower will be illuminated with a premier light show. The event is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. Thursday. Those attending are encouraged to gather at or near the intersection of South Santa Fe Avenue and Walnut Street.

Souvenir Stiefel face masks are on sale for $10. Only a limited number of the masks are available, so please reserve yours by calling the Stiefel at 785-827-1998 or emailing [email protected]. If there are masks remaining, they also will be available for sale at the lighting event.

The top of the original tower was destroyed by lightning in the 1950s. The tower was restored to be exactly as it was originally built in 1931, according to information from Jane Gates, Stiefel executive director.
