Lakewood Middle School student accused of school threat

The following information Marion is according to a Salina Police Department news release.

Salina Police officers are investigating an alleged school threat and have made an arrest.

Just before 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, police learned a student enrolled at Lakewood Middle School had allegedly posted on social media that he was going to "shoot up the school" due to being suspended from school for a school-related issue, according to a media release from Salina Police.

School resource officers confirmed the information with the school and observed the victim, and witness's social media information corroborating the initial report.

Just before 8 p.m. officers contacted the student, took them into custody and made an arrest on a requested charge of criminal threat. The juvenile is being transferred to the Saline County Sheriff's office and juvenile intake and assessment  with a recommendation of detention at the north Central Kansas Regional Juvenile Detention Facility in Junction City.
