The Salina Public Schools Board of Education and NEA-Salina met for their second and final round of contract negotiations for the 2024-2025 school year. The teams agreed to the following changes:
· Added $1,750 to the base salary
· Agreed to pay step and movement
· Increased the value of the supplemental pay schedule
· Developed a new salary schedule for Related Services and Student Support personnel
· Increased the employer contribution for health benefits by $20
· Condensed the retirement plan vesting schedule
· Added five (5) days of parental leave
· Added a new longevity tier for those in years 16-17
· Adjusted the length of the duty day
· Increased the liquidated damages amount to $5,000
· Accepted the Professional Appraisal System committee recommendation to update the evaluation system
· Made various language changes for clarity to the agreement
Now that the teams have settled, next steps will be teacher ratification and a vote of the full Board of Education.
