USGS reports more earthquake activity in Saline County

SALINE COUNTY — The ground continues to shake in Saline County. The U.S. Geological Survey reported a 3.3 magnitude earthquake just before 6:30p.m. Monday was centered approximately 3 miles east of Assaria. The Kansas Geological Survey reported the quake with a preliminary magnitude of 3.7. Moments later the KGS a 3.1 magnitude quake in the same area.

This is the fifth quake that area since Saturday.

Just before 4:30p.m. Saturday, a quake measuring a magnitude 3.4 was reported 4.3 miles east of Assaria, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.  A 2.7 magnitude quake shook the same area a short time later.

Just after 5:35p.m. Sunday the USGS reported a 3.3 magnitude quake approximately 4 miles southeast of Assaria.

There are no reports of damage and no calls about the quakes, according to the Saline County Sheriff's office.
