The SES Lady Trojan basketball team picked up their tenth win of the season tonight with a 34-24 victory over the Chapman Fighting Irish.

Southeast has now won five in a row and extends their record to 10-5 on the season while Chapman falls to 1-9.

This game didn’t come easy for the Trojans but once again they hung their hats on defense, holding yet another opponent to under 25 points and allowing just two points in the third quarter.

“I told the girls after the game, ‘put on a happy face, we still won.’ For as badly as we shot tonight there are past years where we wouldn’t have won that game but our defense played really well tonight,” SES head coach Shauna Smith said.

The Trojans were led in scoring tonight by Karsyn Schlesener and Lexi Jacobson with 13 and 10 points respectively.

The rest of the team added just 11 points, but is still due for a big breakout game.

“At some point here the shots are going to start falling for us, we know we’re a good team,” Smith said.

On the defensive side no one for Chapman scored more than six points and SES forced 21 turnovers including 13 in the second half.

Southeast of Saline will be back in action on Tuesday when they host the 2-7 Beloit Lady Trojans, a team they beat 60-30 earlier this season.
