After notching their 14th consecutive ten-win season, the Salina Central girls' basketball team will shift their focus to the sub-state tournament, as they prepare to travel to Goddard-Eisenhower on Tuesday.
The Lady Mustangs will enter this semifinal matchup at 10-10 while the Lady Tigers come in at 14-6, having won five of their last six.
These two split the regular-season series in a pair of overtime thrillers with Central taking the first meeting 41-40 in early January, and Eisenhower getting their revenge 50-49 a month later.
As both teams prepare for the rubber match, the Lady Mustangs will look to put all of the lessons they have learned throughout the year to the test in an effort to win two big games, and punch a second-consecutive ticket to the 5A state tournament.
"We are very excited to play in the postseason," Central head coach Chris Fear said. "We feel that we are playing our best basketball as of late. Eisenhower has had an outstanding season and the two games we have played against them have both gone to overtime, I anticipate another great game."
The winner of this contest will advance to one of eight sub-state championship games in Class 5A on Friday to await the winner of the 2-seed in Andover (18-2), and the 15-seed in Topeka West (4-16).
Tip-off between the Lady Mustangs and Tigers is set for 7:00 at Eisenhower High School.
