Kansas Wesleyan Women's Soccer scored two first half goals and made the difference stand as the Coyotes remained unbeaten in KCAC play, stopping the Avila Eagles on Saturday afternoon at JRI Hospitality Stadium at the Graves Family Sports Complex.

The Coyotes improved to 7-0 in the KCAC and recorded the fifth shutout of the season in the victory, that also propelled KWU into the lead in the KCAC standings after Oklahoma Wesleyan played York University to a scoreless tie Saturday.

Wesleyan's first goal came early on, in the second minute. Valeria Hernandez sent a ball into open space to Precious Nwosu who gained possession, and eluded several Avila defenders before creating enough space to send a shot in for the goal.

It put the Coyotes up 1-0.

The Coyotes had more chances at goals in the first half, another by Nwosu in the 14th minute, but was saved and another in the 24th by Yissel Navarro that was again saved.

In the 39th minute, the Coyotes found the net again. A foul gave the Coyotes a direct kick from 33 yards out just outside the near post. Navarro took the shot and slid it in just underneath the crossbar, center goal, for the score.

The Coyotes had another great chance in the 80th minute by Nwosu, but her shot was again saved.

KWU outshot Avila 14-8 in the match, led by Nwosu's four shots. Isabella Galvan had two saves in goal preserving the clean sheet.
