Salt & Light Homestead, a local produce farm, has been offering an in-person interactive farm animal experience and plans to continue providing more.
According to co-owner Daniel Miller these events are meant to provide a simple, yet memorable farm outing experience with various animal interactions.
As you enter the farm, you will park at the entrance where there’s designated parking at the front of the farm. From there, you will walk to the check-in location, where baby goats and a large playground area are ready to greet you.
Once everyone is through the check-in process, attendees will load up on a tractor-pulled hayride and ride through the back area of the farm. The first stop is where the farm keeps its highland bull, while discussions of cattle management will occur.
Afterwards, attendees will head to where the highland cows are kept. Each person is allowed the chance to hand-feed the cows as well.
Following that, guests will enter a large fenced-in area, where they are free to roam. Inside this area are highland calves, alpacas, goats, chickens and a friendly donkey.
Once done, everyone loads back up on the hayride and will ride back towards the entrance of the farm. Attendees have also stopped at the Self-Service Produce Shed of the farm to check out fresh produce and farm products from Salt & Light Homestead.
All animals are hands-on, and guests are provided with feed cups. During this experience, handwashing is available, along with dollar drinks and popsicles.
"We have never had anything like this in the community," shared Miller that attendees have told him.
The next event will occur on June 19 at 6:30 pm & June 20 at 10:00 pm.
