On Tuesday afternoon, Saline County Sheriff's deputies and volunteer firefighters from Rural Fire District 5 responded to a fire at the Martin residence at 7600 East North Street Road.

Deputies received the call at 2:09 p.m., reporting a fire in a detached pole shed on the property.

By the time the first deputies and firefighters arrived, the homeowner had already extinguished the fire.

According to Saline County Sheriff Roger Soldan, the fire started while the residents burned old wood in a stove inside the shed.

The incident caused an estimated $2,000 in damage to the structure, but no other property was damaged, and no injuries were reported.
