The Abilene Cowboys and Salina Central Lady Mustangs advanced to the state tournament this weekend and each began their title runs with home games this evening.

Abilene was up first, hosting the 12-10 McPherson Bullpups in the 4A boys quarter final.

The Cowboys fell behind early with the Bullpups holding a 12-4 lead at the end of the first quarter.

Abilene battled hard but McPherson pulled away, taking the victory by a final score of 51-30.

The Cowboys end their season at 13-6 while the Bullpups head to the class 4A Final Four in Salina.

The Salina Central Lady Mustangs were also in action today hosting the 7-15 Topeka-Seaman Lady Vikings.

Things went much better for the Lady Stangs, who flew out to an early lead and never looked back, eliminating Topeka-Seaman 66-38.

The Lady Vikes wrap up their 2020-21 campaign at 8-15 while the Mustangs, led by a new career-high 34 points from Aubrie Kierscht, advance to the 5A Final Four on Thursday.

The semi final game will be played at either 3:00 or 7:00 with the state final on Saturday at 2pm.
