Local officials are scheduled to gather Wednesday afternoon for a meeting concerning the environmental matter at the former Schilling Air Force Base.
The Salina Public Entities meeting is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in Great Plains Manufacturing Convention Hall of Tony's Pizza Events Center, 800 The Midway. Those entities scheduled to attend include the following.
Salina city commissioners
USD 305 Board of Education members
Salina Airport Authority Board of Directors
Kansas State University representatives
According to a news release from the City of Salina, items on the agenda include the following.
A brief overview of the Schilling Air Force Base groundwater contamination project will be provided by Tim Rogers, Salina Airport Authority executive director.
A review of the consent decree and the environmental project management agreement. The consent decree settles claims involving responsibility for environmental response actions and costs at the site of the former Schilling Air Force Base.
Each of the participating entities will then consider a motion approving the proposed consent decree and authorize their respective designee to sign the document on their behalf.
