Virgil Dean Bunce, 72, of Salina, passed away Thursday, July 21, 2022. He was born May 3, 1950, in Scottsbluff, NE.
He was the sheriff of the Todd County Sheriff's Department for twenty plus years in Mission, South Dakota. Virgil also worked as a correctional officer for 20 years at the Hutchinson Correctional Facility in Hutchinson, KS. During retirement, Virgil worked for the Durham School Bus (USD 305) for five years.
He was preceded in death by his father Virgil L. Bunce, and his mother Bertha Bunce.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 45 years, Eva I. Bunce, and three children: Jodean Kane of Springfield, MO, Lisa Richards of Junction City, and Nancy (Robert) Bunnville, of Junction City, two brothers, 10 grandchildren, and 10 great-great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m., Friday, August 5, 2022, at Roselawn Heights Memorial Chapel, 1920 E. Crawford, Salina
