Tulsa Drillers shut out Wind Surge, 5-0

WICHITA The Wind Surge fell short to the Tulsa Drillers 5-0 on Friday night as Wichita struggled at the plate and stranded six runners in scoring position to lose their third straight game.

The Drillers scored two runs in the third inning behind a balk and wild pitch from Surge starter Blayne Enlow that allowed Jeren Kendall and Devin Mann to score to give Tulsa a 2-0 lead. Enlow pitched three and two thirds’ innings and allowed two runs on one hit, two walks, and tallied four strikeouts.

The Drillers scored two more runs in the fifth inning as Devin Mann hit an RBI-double to score Leonel Valera. James Outman followed the next at-bat with a sacrifice fly to score Devin Mann and extended the Tulsa lead to 4-0.

Notes: Wichita added catcher Kyle Schmidt from Class A Cedar Rapids….. Edouard Julien has now reached base in 13 consecutive games… The Surge is now 1 ½ games out of first place in the division and have dropped into third place… Wichita is now 2-8 in their last 10 games… The Wind Surge falls to 18-15 on the road
