The Southeast of Saline Trojan baseball team wrapped up their regular season in style with two mercy rule wins over the Russell Broncos.
With victories of 10-0 and 17-2 SES caps off a 12-game winning streak and will head into regionals at a towering 19-1 while Russell falls to 6-9 on the year.
Landen Allen silenced the Bronco bats in game one, allowing just four hits and striking out five in a six-inning complete game shutout.
Offensively the Trojans spread out their attack, scoring a run or more in each of the six innings before eventually collecting a 10-0 run-rule victory.
It was a big day at the plate for Bryant Banks and Jayton Mathis, who combined to go 5/7 with five RBIs in the win.
Southeast was much less subtle in game two, scoring five runs in the first and ten in the second to take a commanding 15-0 lead into the third.
The top four in the Trojan lineup looked as sharp as ever, with Jaxson Gebhardt, Evan Nickelson, Bryant Banks and Eli Harris driving in seven runs in just two innings.
Russell’s struggles at the plate continued in game two thanks to Jaython Mathis and Evan Nicklson, who allowed just two runs on five hits en route to a 17-2 victory.
With just one regular season loss, a league title and a healthy team going into regionals, the Trojans are primed to make a deep playoff push in 2021.
