Red flag warnings have been issued for a large part of Kansas, include most counties in our area.
The fire weather watches that had been in effect for some counties have been canceled.
The National Weather Service in Wichita has issued a red flag warning in effect from 10 a.m.-8 p.m. Saturday and includes the following counties in our area.
Ellsworth County
Lincoln County
Southwest winds of 20 to 35 mph with gusts up to 50 mph are forecast. Winds will shift to the west and northwest during the late afternoon and evening.
Additionally, relative humidity is forecast to be as low as 19 percent.
Any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly and become very difficult to control. Outdoor burning is not recommended, the weather service noted.

Dickinson County
Ottawa County
Republic County
Sustained south-southwesterly winds at 25-35 mph with gusts up to 40-45 mph are forecast. Winds will shift to the west during the late afternoon.
Any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly. Outdoor burning is not recommended.
The National Weather Service in Hastings, Neb., has issued a red flag warning in effect from 10 a.m.-7 p.m. Saturday that includes Mitchell County.
West winds of 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 40 mph are forecast. Additionally, relative humidity is forecast to be a low as 17 percent.
