A Salina man has been arrested in connection with the theft of a laptop computer from a south Salina store.

Salina Police Captain Paul Forrester said this morning that officers were able to get a better description of the vehicle that a man wanted in connection to the theft of a laptop from Sam's Club left the store parking lot in on Tuesday morning.

Officers spoke with the registered owner of the vehicle, who told them that, Miguel Hernandez, 26, of Salina, might be the person they were looking for in the case.

On Wednesday afternoon, officers made contact with Hernandez, and while speaking with him, observed the HP PAV X360 2 in 1 laptop computer that was stolen from Sam's Club, Forrester said.

During the course of the investigation, officers learned that the HP laptop computer was actually stolen from Sam's Club on Dec. 30. On Tuesday, Hernandez allegedly went into Sam's Club and cut the cable on a Samsung Galaxy laptop computer. That, however, set off an alarm and Hernandez allegedly left the store without the laptop computer.

It was earlier reported that both laptop computers were stolen on Tuesday.

Forrester said that Hernandez was arrested on the following requested charges.

●Attempted theft

●Theft

●Two counts of damage to property
