Diane H. Smith, 83, passed away Friday, August 21, 2020. Dearest mother, the Lord took you gently into his loving arms and led you peacefully to heaven today. We all had to accept that you were ready to go and join him and dad in his heavenly kingdom. You were surrounded by your loving family and friends during your last days and this made your passing easier. We saw the cardinals and knew the angels were calling you to be with them.
No longer will you be a phone call away. Your seat remains empty at our marathon card games. Your precious dog, Star, is lost without her mommy. We'll miss your smile, your laugh, your selfless devotion to your church, work, family, and friends. You have been such a huge part of all of our lives but we understand that you have been ready to go. The outpouring of love and friendship from so many people near and far has touched our hearts.
Your passing has left such a huge hole in our hearts, but we are comforted by the knowledge you are at peace. Your legacy will live on forever in the lives of your children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. We all know you will continue to look over us and guide us, because that's what moms do. We look forward to the day when we are reunited as a family in Christ.
We'll all go on with our lives as you would have wanted us to. We'll think about you throughout the day and smile at the things we know you would have enjoyed. So mom, grandma, and Gram Gram, please know that you are loved and cherished by your earthly and heavenly family until we meet again.
After a brief private graveside service, she will be buried beside dad in Roselawn Cemetery.
