Mask mandate, executive sessions among county agenda items

The county's mask mandate and several executive sessions are among the items on the Saline County Commission agenda for Tuesday.

Meeting via Zoom

The meeting is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. Tuesday via Zoom and the county's YouTube channel. This decision to revise the meeting format was made to align with the mass gathering limitations imposed by the Saline County Commission and Saline County Health Officer.

If citizens wish to speak, either during the public forum or when the Chairman requests public comment on an item, they must raise their hand so that the meeting host can allow them to speak.

Citizens can also send comments or questions to County Commissioners via email by going to the website www.saline.org and clicking on the County Commissioner’s page under the Department tab. Please send any emails prior to the Sunday before the meeting when possible.

Agenda items

Commissioners are scheduled to review with Jason Tiller the COVID-19 situation in Saline County and what affect that might have on the county's mask mandate.

Additionally, commissioners are to consider a request from the Road and Bridge Department to award bids for yellow and white traffic paint and reflective glass beads. The total cost of staff's recommended bids is $94,907.50, which comes in under the $100,000 budgeted for such purchases.

Other items on the county agenda for Tuesday include the following.

â—ŹHear the Road and Bridge Department update from Darren Fishel, administrator

â—ŹHear County Administrator Phillip Smith-Hanes' weekly update, which is to include a radio project update and an update on progress on the Saline County Jail project.

â—ŹMeet for a study session concerning radio towers. According to information in the meeting packet, "this portion of the meeting is reserved for discussion among Commissioners on topics for which no action is currently proposed."

Commissioners also are scheduled to meet in four executive sessions. One is for attorney-client privilege and the other three concern land acquisition, according to information in the commission meeting packet for Tuesday
