Bernice Helen Schletzbaum (Heidebrecht) was born on April 4, 1928 to Pete and Helen (Doerksen) Heidebrecht at Lake Inman, Kansas.
Bernice lived in McPherson County all her life and graduated from McPherson High School in 1946.
On October 17, 1959 she married Arnold L. Schletzbaum at the McPherson Church of the Brethren. Bernice and Arnold attended Monitor Church of the Brethren in Conway, Kansas for many years.
Arnold passed away on August 2, 2008.
Bernice worked as an underwriting assistant at Farmer’s Alliance Insurance company for 44 years.
Bernice and Arnold also farmed in McPherson County. She was a member of the Kansas Society of Insurance Women, National Association of Insurance Women, and a charter member of the Insurance Women of North Central Kansas.
Bernice enjoyed reading, crocheting, embroidery, and making quilts for each of her siblings.
Bernice was proceeded in death by her husband Arnold, parents Pete and Helen, sisters Tillie Koehn and Sophie Neufeld, and nephew Curtis Crumpacker.
Bernice is survived by her sisters Kate Redger and Shirley Dornberger, brother Pete Heidebrecht, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Glidden-Ediger-Wiggins Funeral Home, McPherson, Kansas.
Visitation will be Tuesday, October 11 from 6:00-7:00 p.m. at Glidden-Ediger Funeral Home, McPherson, KS. Graveside services will be Wednesday, October 12 at 10:00 a.m. at North Inman Cemetery followed by a memorial service at 11:00 at Glidden-Ediger, McPherson, Kansas.
