The Southeast of Saline Lady Trojans won yet another cross-country Regional Championship, as they hosted the KSHSAA Class 3A event on Saturday.
Southeast narrowly beat out second-place finisher Wichita Trinity in team totals by a score of 70-76.
The Lady Trojans were led by Piper Brown, who finished in 9th place with a time of 19:56.80
Cali Augustine was next in 12th place (20:08.90), with Ava McGraw in the 14th spot (20:26.80) to round out the SES medal placements.
Anna Jackson (16th, 20:36.71) and Alea Barnaby (24th, 20:53.90) rounded out the top 25 for the Lady Trojans.
The boy's team finished second in the team standings with 67 points, 20 points behind the defending state champions from Wichita Trinity, and 57 points ahead of Marysville.
Jacob Bircher was the first Trojan to cross the finish line, as he finished in 3rd place, with a time of 16:21.28,
Jacob Tonne was Southeast's other medalist, finishing 11th with a time of 17:00.86.
Also finishing in the top 25 for Southeast were Zachary Carlin (18th, 17:15.16), Brooks Carlin (20th, 17:18.01), and Cole Franklin (22nd, 17:27.80).
Both teams qualified for the State Championship race, and will travel to rim Rock Farms by Lawrence next Saturday.
The boys will begin at 10:35, while the girls compete for their fifth consecutive state championship, starting at 12:20.
