Odella I. Yaksich, age 99, of Concordia, passed away on May 30, 2021 at the Josie Harper Hospice House, Omaha, NE due to natural causes. Odella was born December 20, 1921 in Aurora KS to George and Anna (Adam) Perret.
She attended Aurora Catholic Schools graduating in 1939. Odella married Michael M. Yaksich on February 8, 1945 at St. Peter Catholic Church, Aurora, KS.
During her lifetime she worked at the Aurora Co-Op elevator and at Montgomery Wards, St. Joseph Hospital and the Gelvin Haughey Clinic in Concordia, retiring in 1984.
She was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, the Altar Society, VFW and American Legion Auxiliaries, the former Aurora Ladies Club and was very active in her church and community all the way into her 90s.
She is survived by her daughters Patricia (Marty) Ireland, Plantation FL, Mary Jane Collette, Omaha, NE and daughter-in-law, Gaye Yaksich, Inlet Beach, FL; five grandchildren, Jennifer (Mike) Dyer, Venetia, PA, Michael (Suzie) Yaksich, Omaha, NE, Diane (Richard) Pyle, Pembroke Pines, FL, David (Lindsey) Collette and Adam (Taryn) Collette, Omaha, NE and 16 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Michael M.Yaksich, son Michael G.Yaksich, her parents George and Anna Perret, sisters Eva Letourneau and Marie Hebert and son-in-law David Collette.
Odella loved her family with all her heart, most especially her great-grandchildren, who lovingly called her Grandma YaYa. She lived a long and wonderful life and will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:00 a.m., Sat., June 12, 2021 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church with Fr. Barry Brinkman officiating. Burial will follow at St. Concordia Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, June 11, 2021 from 1-8 p.m. with a rosary at 6 p.m. all at the Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home. Family will greet friends after the rosary service.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials to Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church - Kitchen in care of the funeral home.
