🏀 Sacred Heart sweeps Lyons in League opener

It was all Lady Knights in the first half and exploded in the second half to win 62-23, on the Boys’ side both teams defensively played good, and the Knights sneaked one away 52-44.

Girls: Sacred Heart 62 Lyons 23

Sacred Heart found themselves locked in defensively and wouldn’t let off in the first half, leading 17-0 at the end of the first quarter and 40-9 at the intermission.

Skylar Douglas would come out of the half shooting the ball really well, she had 9 points in the third quarter. Brynn Bechard would come off the bench and battle down in the trenches winning the rebounding battle.

The Lady Knights would force 5 turnovers in the third and lead 57-13 going into the fourth quarter.

Sacred Heart would rotate the bench going into the fourth and as a team they forced 20 turnovers in a 62-23 victory.

The Lady Knights were led in scoring by Skylar Douglas she finished her evening with 18, Brynn Bechard would have a career high night she contributed by having 13.

Lyons were led in scoring by Sierra Belote she had 8.

The Lady Knights close out the year and move to 4-2 overall and 1-0 in league play. They open the year at home against Minneapolis.

Boys: Sacred Heart 52 Lyons 44

The boys’ game got off to a slow start offensively, with Sacred Heart holding a 15-9 lead at the end of the first quarter.

Things would slowly start to pick up for both teams, and at intermission the Knights would lead 22-21.

The starting 5 for Sacred Heart would contribute with scores to push themselves ahead of Lyons, finding themselves leading by 4 going into the fourth quarter 38-34.

In the fourth quarter Noah Hines would contribute going 6-6 from the free throw line and finishing his evening 8-8 from the Free Throw line. Lyons wouldn’t give up and pressure the Knights and forcing the Knights to turn it over 6 times in the fourth quarter. The Knights would stay on top and win 52-44.

The Knights were led in scoring by Noah Hines (14), Maddox Wells (12), Will Tuttle (10).

Lyons were led in scoring by Detrell Stanley and Paco Espinoza, they both finished with 13.

Sacred Heart goes into winter break 7-0 overall and 1-0 in league play. They will open the new year against the Minneapolis Lions.
