NORTH NEWTON – Kansas Wesleyan Competitive Cheer earned a fifth-place finish at the 2022 KCAC Championships held at Bethel College on Friday night.
KWU finished in fifth place with a final score of 63.56 which takes into account a team's preliminary and final performance scores. KWU scored a 61.77 in the preliminary round and a 64.17 in the final round.
Eight teams competed in the conference championship event which was won by Friends by a very narrow margin of 0.11 points over Bethel. Friends finished with a score of 74.23, while Bethel was second with a score of 74.12.
McPherson finished third with a 72.76, Saint Mary was fourth with a 66.63, KWU was fifth, York was sixth with a 61.18, Bethany was seventh with a 60.14 and Southwestern was eighth with a score of 49.31.
Three KWU student-athletes also earned All-KCAC honors at the event.
Meredith Angelotti was named Honorable Mention All-KCAC and Ashley Hawthorne and Karsen Smith were named Second Team All-KCAC.
