One hospitalized after SUV rear-ends van in blowing dust

ELLSWORTH COUNTY—One person was injured in an accident just before 5p.m. Monday in Ellsworth County.

The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 2022 Subaru Outback driven by Timothy C. Hindman, 54, Edwards, Colorado, was eastbound on Interstate 70 seven miles east of Wilson.

The SUV rear-ended a 2008 Chevy Express van driven by Omar barra-Barrientos, 32, Fort Worth, Texas, who was slowing down due to reduced visibility caused by blowing dust.

EMS transported a passenger on the van identified as Alberto Gonzalez, 29, Wichita, to the Ellsworth County Medical Center. The drivers and two other passengers on the van were not injured. One passenger on the van Omar Hernandez-Gine, 40, Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, was not wearing a seat belt, according to the KHP.
