UPDATE: Stolen gold BMW found at Kanopolis State Park

Salina Police said yesterday morning that they have located the gold BMW and have arrested two suspects connected to the  BMW that was stolen from downtown Salina last week. 

Sergeant Tonniges said yesterday morning that officers were able to pull video of the theft which showed the vehicle the suspects arrived in.

Tonniges said on Aug. 12 at 3:30 a.m. an officer on an unrelated call at the Airliner Motel, 781 N. Broadway Boulevard, saw two individuals he recognized as the two suspects and the vehicle the suspects arrived in on the night of the car theft. 

Kagney Deiser,37 of Saint Joseph, Missouri and Damien Powell, 32 of Ellsworth were arrested on the requested charge of car theft.

"Through the interview with the two suspects we were able to recover the BMW," Tonniges. "It was at Kanopolis Lake, so an  Ellsworth County Deputy went out and was able to recover it."

Tonniges said the vehicle was intact when it was recovered.

A Salina woman is without her car after it was stolen in downtown Salina earlier this week. 

Salina Police Sgt. Tonniges said sometime between 9:15 p.m. and 9:40 p.m. on Sunday, someone stole a gold 2007 BMW that was parked outside Big Noes Kates, 121 N. Santa Fe Avenue. 

The twenty-five-year-old vehicle owner arrived at Big Nose Kate's at approximately 9:15 p.m. While at the bar she lost her keys and asked one of her friends if she could have a ride home. When the pair came back to the bar, her BMW was missing from the parking lot.

The vehicle owner reported the crime to the Salina Police Department. 

Tonniges said officers are reviewing nearby surveillance video for further leads. The gold-colored vehicle has a Kansas tag: 362RML.
