HARVEY COUNTY—Two people from Peabody were injured in a hit-and-run accident just before 9:30 a.m. Tuesday in Harvey County.

The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a westbound vehicle on northeast 60th Avenue and ran the stop sign at Kansas Highway 15 two miles north of Newton.

While making a left turn, the unidentified vehicle struck a southbound 2015 Nissan Altima driven by Carlos Javier&nbsp;Damian, 28, Peabody, and left the scene.

EMS transported&nbsp;Damian and a passenger Joselin M.&nbsp;Alfaro Espinoza, 26, Peabody, to Newton Medical Center.&nbsp; The occupants of the Nissan were properly restrained, according to the KHP.
