A construction site in Salina was the target of a burglary between Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning.

Salina Police Department (SPD) Captain James Feldman said the theft took place in the 1000 block of Brock Road, where Will Electric employees showed up for work and discovered a significant amount of wire removed.

"Employees of Will Electric reported that they had been working on some apartments in the area; when they showed up for work yesterday morning, they determined that someone had gone through and removed 1,520 feet of Romex wiring from the construction," Feldman said.

The wiring, valued at $1,250, had already been installed in the apartment complex's walls. Feldman said the theft likely occurred between 3 p.m. Tuesday and 6 a.m. Wednesday. Replacing the stolen wiring is expected to cost an additional $1,500.

The Salina Police Department has no suspects at this time. Officers continue to investigate this case and encourage anyone with information to come forward.
