A Salina woman was injured Friday afternoon when another vehicle rear-ended the SUV she was driving.

Chelsie Spohn, 25, of Salina, was stopped in traffic in an eastbound lane on E. Crawford Street when the 2014 GMC Acadia she was driving was rear-ended by a 2015 Honda CRV driven by Brenda Stevens, 56, of Salina, according to Salina Police Captain Paul Forrester. The accident occurred at approximately 3:30 p.m. Friday near the intersection with S. Fourth Street.

Stevens told police that something caught her attention and she looked away briefly and did not see the stopped Acadia until it was too late, Forrester said.

Spohn suffered neck pain and a possible concussion and was transported by EMS to Salina Regional Health Center, he said.

The CRV sustained major front end damage, while the Acadia sustained rear-end damage. Both vehicles were towed from the scene.

Stevens was cited for inattentive driving, Forrester said.
