STERLING - Kansas Wesleyan Baseball rallied from a 5-2 deficit with five runs in the seventh inning to defeat the Sterling College Warriors on Tuesday at the Sterling College baseball field.

The victory completes Wesleyan's three-game midweek series sweep over the Warriors.

The Coyotes had an early 1-0 lead in the second inning as Chase Aurand tripled and then scored on Eric Romero's single.

Sterling tied it in the bottom of the inning before the Coyotes reclaimed the lead again. Tyler Favretto led off the inning with a walk and after Fernando Ruvalcaba singled, Carter Allen followed with a hit to score courtesy runner Alex Garcia to make it 2-1 Coyotes.

The Warriors grabbed the lead in the bottom of the inning with a pair of unearned runs and extended the lead to 5-2 on a 2-run homer in the fifth.

Wesleyan couldn't get anything going until the seventh inning when the rally caps came out.

Jacob Williamson was hit by a pitch, followed by a hit by Favretto. The first run of the inning came across on a wild pitch. Later in the inning Ruvalcaba drove in a run with a hit, and the Coyotes followed with two more RBI singles by Allen and Joe Finder to give KWU the lead 6-5. Aurand would bring in the final run of the inning on a fielder's choice.

The Coyotes would hold on from there, holding Sterling to just one hit over the final three innings.

Allen, who was named KCAC Player of the Week on Tuesday, continues to swing a hot bat, going 3 of 5 with two RBI to lead the Coyotes in the game.

Starter Thalen Wright went four innings, allowing five runs, three earned, on seven hits. Shaw Lee got the win in relief, tossing four innings with four strikeouts. Ritter Steinmann pitched the ninth for the save.
