Kan. woman killed after car, semi crash in no passing zone

MITCHELL COUNTY—One person died in an accident just before 11:30a.m.  Tuesday in Mitchell County. 

The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a  1991 Buick Century driven by Brian Christianson, 69, Hunter, was northbound on Kansas 181 just south of Timothy Trail.   The driver attempted to pass a 2005 International semi driven by Ronald Dubbert, 52, Hebron, Nebraska, in a no passing zone. The semi failed to maintain its lane and crossed the center line when negotiating a curve.

The Buick left the roadway and when it reentered, it made impact with the semi. The semi then left the roadway, entered the east ditch and rolled. 

A passenger in the semi identified as 84-year-old Mary Dubbert, 84, Tipton, was pronounced dead at the scene and was transported to Roberts Funeral Home.

EMS transported Ronald Dubbert to the Mitchell County Hospital. Christianson was not injured. All three were properly restrained, according to the KHP.
