Chiefs Head Coach Andy Reid Quotes

OPENING STATEMENT: “Alright, the only one that didn’t practice today was (Omarr Norman-) Lott, Omarr. He nicked up his shoulder yesterday. We’ll just see how he does here in the next couple of days. Other than that, we look forward to the challenge of playing the Jags. Good football team. Like I mentioned (Head Coach) Liam (Coen) has done a nice job with that group, and they’re playing real good football. Time’s yours.”
Q: When do you start to think about weather conditions affecting the game?
REID: “We practice in it, so we go out and do it. We think about it but not a ton.”
Q: What does Trent McDuffie do for you that might not be seen in the box score?
REID: “Well, he (Trent McDuffie) covers, and he does a nice job of that. He’s smart, a great teammate, and does all the other stuff, all the intangible stuff, and he’s just a good player. He can play inside or outside.”
Q: On Omarr Norman-Lott’s injury.
REID: “I think he should be okay. We’ll see.”

RB BRASHARD SMITH
Q: How’s it been working with Patrick Mahomes?
SMITH: “He’s (Patrick Mahomes) literally the best quarterback I’ve ever played with, and that’s the biggest thing for me. I know how smart he is and how he sees things probably quicker than most other quarterbacks. I love that about him.”
Q: What did last week’s game mean to you?
SMITH: “It felt great just being in there and we got the win. I was hyped up for sure, and I was really happy.”
Q: What goes into cutting down mistakes as a rookie? Is that more on preparation or trusting the scheme?
SMITH: “I’ll say preparation for sure. Just practice, knowing if I get a rep in practice and know I messed it up, I’m just making sure I don’t mess that same mistake up again. Just stuff like that, just not messing up twice, or if you mess up one time, show them that you can correct that in a fast way. So, I’m starting to understand that.”
CB TRENT MCDUFFIE
Q: On the Jacksonville Jaguars offense.
MCDUFFIE: “Really good offense. They do the little things good, which I think has allowed them to have success, and they’re using their playmakers which on the back end we know we got to stop. And it’s a high octane offense so they motion a lot of guys in different positions, and they’re running at a really high level right now so we got a good challenge.”
Q: On Nohl Williams’ playing time allowing him to move more to the slot position.
MCDUFFIE: “I love this defense. I feel like (General Manager Brett) Veach and the guys always bring in a lot of DBs who are athletic, who are gifted. Nohl (Williams) is one of those guys who is smart. Coming in as a rookie (he) is picking up this defense really well. He is disciplined, and he’s out there making plays, which is the biggest thing. You see his confidence is rising and Coach (Defensive Coordinator Steve) Spags is trusting him a little bit more and on my end, that allows me to do a little bit more things. I can go inside, go on the outside and it allows us to just change up the looks, change up the personnel so that the offense just doesn’t know what role he is in.”
Q: What has led to the increase in forced turnovers from the defense?
