A pedestrian was injured after he was struck by a semi on Interstate 135 in Saline County Thursday evening.

Shortly after midnight on Thursday, a semi-truck operated out of La Crosse, Kansas was southbound on Interstate 134 near mile marker #85 when it clipped pedestrian, Anthony Shirley, 24, of Salina.
Undersheriff Brent Melander said the driver pulled over and contacted authorities, telling them he thought he’d hit someone.
Deputies located Shirley in the ditch with serious injuries that were considered non-life threatening.
Shirley was later transported to a hospital in Wichita for continued medical care.
Melander said the semi truck had minimal damage and the driver was not injured during the accident. Shirley was wearing dark clothing and Melander noted there is less artificial lighting in that section of the interstate.
